James R. Margolis Photographic Art

A blogger writes: "I've often wondered how many photographs of sunsets exist in the world. Millions certainly - possibly billions..I stopped making sunset photos...When I find myself about to take a picture that I know I have seen many times before..., I put away my camera. I'd personally much rather have a collection of creative photographs that don't work than a collection of cliché photos that do."  I DISAGREE. As an early riser, I awaken to a rising sun nearly every morning. I rarely find sunrises to be clichés. Like snowflakes, sunrises and sunsets, even in the same place, are never quite the same. Of the twenty-one photographs below nine were taken from the same location, but at different seasons of the year. I have seen my share of sunrises, but I am still excited by the variety and sheer beauty of each and every one. My sunrise pictures may differ only slightly from those that someone else may have taken and published at some time or place. Who cares? Beauty is beauty. None of us can have too much of it. When we are no longer excited by beautiful scenes (beautiful objects and beautiful people), we ourselves become clichés.
